Seraphina Chapter 17-36 Sternenberg
Chapter 17: After the performance had finished, the Ardmagar began to speak with Seraphina telling her of the strangeness of human form. Eventually, he was ushered away by others to Seraphina's pleasure and Kiggs took her to dance. As they danced, he informed her that he would accompany her to search for Sir James Peascod the next day.
Chapter 18: Seraphina goes home that night and weeps as she knows that she cannot have love in her life due to her half-dragon nature. The next morning, Seraphina and Kiggs set off to further investigate the scene where Rufus was murdered. When they arrive at the scene, both Seraphina and Kiggs agreed that it was not the spot of the actual murder as it was to close to the road. They continue on to a rockery where birds flew overhead in circles and proceeded to examine it. Kiggs discovers a medal which one belonged to Rufus, proving that the dragon killed him in the cave, and moved him to the other location after decapitating him.
Chapter 19: After the incident in the cave, as Seraphina and Kiggs talk, she becomes aware that he has been sending spies to watch over Orma and he believes that she loves him. Seraphina does not reveal her true relation to him to continue to secure her identity. The two then go to visit the home of the banished knights to once again ask about what they had seen. They confirmed with certainty that they had seen Imlann. Seraphina and Jacob set out that night before darkness came, attempting to reach a nearby village to stay the night.
Chapter 20: As they were traveling, General Imlann in his dragon form landed before them. He threatened to take the life of Kiggs, but Seraphina told him of her communication device which she had used to contact a supposed embassy of dragons for aid. Imlann challenged Seraphina to come out of her saarantrai form and face him. Seraphina refused and Imlann promptly left the scene. Kiggs was extremely skeptical after the incident, but Seraphina told him that she was bluffing the whole time. They embraced for a moment until Orma came in his dragon form.
Chapter 21: Kiggs immediately scolds Seraphina for lying to him about the communication device and even threatens to arrest her for possession of it. Orma is furious at Seraphina that she let Imlann escape and leaves Seraphina and Kiggs to ride back to Lavondaville. Seraphina tells Kiggs the story of her dragon tutor and how Orma rescued her, but Kiggs does not believe what she says. Once they were back in the town, Orma and Seraphina were kept under the watchful eye of Kiggs until Seraphina asked to use the washroom. In here she cried out in anguish and admitted she loved Kiggs. She then turned to her scales and attempted to rip them off causing her excruciating pain. She could not do it.
Chapter 22: The Ardmagar and the Queen met with Seraphina and Orma that night to discuss their fates. The Queen pardoned Seraphina of any punishment and left the room leaving the Ardmagar with Seraphin and Orma. Orma informed him that Seraphina was half dragon which resulted in the Ardmagar banishing him for all his transgressions including not informing the censors of this. He was given a declaration of Magna Culpa meaning he would be killed by humans on sight. Orma is also ordered for his emotions to be removed.
Chapter 23: Seraphina is awoken by Glisselda and Millie who inform her that she must reconcile with Kiggs. As Seraphina lays in bed, she once again accesses her garden where she finds Fruit Bat on top of her memory box as it is flaming. When he releases it, Seraphina realizes that he was protecting her. Fruit Bat then reveals his real name to be Abdo and informed her that he was aware of the others. Once Fruit Bat leaves, Seraphina is thrown into one of her mother's memories where she is talking with her father and subsequently traps him, becoming a traitor of her family as her father was plotting against the Ardmagar.
Chapter 24: As Seraphina goes to breakfast the next morning, she is met with much hostility and Guntard informs her it is because there are rumors of her being a dragon. Guntard has two saarantrai smell her and they both lie saying she is a human to the joy of all the others. As Seraphina talks with Viridius later that day, he informs her that he is aware of her mother and her situation. He proceeds to tell her to leave immediately as he does not want her caught. Princess Glissilda sends word to meet Seraphina in the downstairs second laundry room near the furnaces.
Chapter 25: When Seraphina arrived, she was confronted by Lady Corongi and Princess Dione who both seized her and took a knife to her arm. When they saw her red blood they were outraged as they had been certain Seraphina was a saar. Dame Okra took Seraphina and lead her to Princess Glisselda who had her arm stitched. As Seraphina was undressing, Princess Glisselda saw the scale upon her back but mistook them for a Saint's burthen which Seraphina told her was correct.
Chapter 26: After all that had happened, Seraphina's father came and took her back home. After a short and chippy encounter with her stepmother, Seraphina heads into town in Search of Orma once last time before his operation which will cause him to forget all about Seraphina. Orma and Seraphina briefly talk before Basin appears and Orma leaves the place promptly. Basind then begins chasing Seraphina into straight into the sons of St. Ogdo.
Chapter 27: Immediately, Seraphina yelled out that he was attempting to hurt her which caused the sons to pounce on Basind. Seraphina recognized one of them to be Earl Joseph, and she followed him all the way to the Cathedral. He conversed shortly with a priest before leaving. Shortly after, the Ardmagar walked in and Seraphina informed him of her suspicions.
Chapter 28: As they talked, the priest with whom Jacob was talking with entered the room and stabbed Seraphina in her scale which resulted in the blade glancing effortlessly off. Comonot proceeded to strike the priest down, killing him. The man was revealed to be Thomas Broadwick. Kiggs then arrived on the scene and questioned both Seraphin and the Ardmagar about the situation. It became obvious that this was an assassination attempt on Comonot. Seraphin and Kiggs then talked for a short time, somewhat restoring their fragmented friendship.
Chapter 29: That night Seraphina's father gifted her an old flute that her mother used to have, reminding her that she was not alone in her journey. That next morning, Seraphina goes to visit the Ardmagar and begins to speak with him about her form. He questions her about love and humanism, scoffing at the dragons who wish to stay in their saarantrai form. Seraphina once again urges him to listen about the assassination attempt that she fears will happen, but he does not listen.
Chapter 30: Seraphina then returned to the Blue Saloon to speak with Glisselda and Kiggs. She informed them that she believes Joseph is Imlann and he joined the sons of St. Ogdo as cover. She continued by saying that they needed to keep the Ardmagar safe just one more night before he returned to his homeland and the problem was not theirs. Seraphina then visited her garden and spoke with Fruit Bat who she had seen earlier that day in the real world as Abdo. She requested him to aid her in the protection of Comonot and he enthusiastically agreed. Seraphina then contacted Lars, and he too agreed to help.
Chapter 31: Seraphina meets Dame Okra at the Treaty Eve celebration and both informs her that she is not alone in her half-dragon form and to keep watch on the Ardmagar. Seraphina then meets Abdo who cannot speak due to dragon scales lining his mouth. Glisselda then made her long-awaited performance followed by Seraphina bringing the crowd to tears on her mother's flute. As the night went on, the group continued to watch the Armagar until he began to get weary and returned to his room. Seraphina and Kiggs accompanied him.
Chapter 32: When they arrived at the Comonot's room, they found Princess Dione on the ground, poisoned. She simply muttered the name of Earl Joseph before she was carried off. Using the help of Dame Okra, Seraphina and Kiggs were able to locate Glisselda and Lady Corongi were about to drink from the bottle of Earl Joseph's poison.
Chapter 33: Kiggs and Seraphina immediately begin to question Joseph and accuse him of both poisoning Dione and being the dragon they are looking for. However when Seraphina takes out her Quig figurine, it calls Lady Corongi the imposter, and it is revealed she did the poisoning and is the dragon. She quickly snatches Glisselda and begins to run from the tower. When Seraphina and Kiggs finally reach her, she transforms into Imlann as Seraphina expected. She tells him that she is her granddaughter and reasons with him for her and Kigg's survival. Meanwhile, she contacts Orma and her garden inhabitants who all join her and fight Imlann. Glisselda is released by him and the trio is safe.
Chapter 34: Orma begins to engage in an intense fight with Imlann over the city when multiple other dragons fly in and help him kill Imlann. Abdo barely survives as he was clutching to the back fo Imann during the fight and cleverly switched to the back of Orma. Meanwhile, Seraphina tells kiggs and Glisselda that she was not lying to Imlann and is half-dragon. She shows them her numerous scales and tells them of the other half-dragons as well. Basind then revealed himself to be a censor who had been monitoring Orma all this time.
Chapter 35: Princess Dione did not survive the poisoning, and her mother, the queen was left extremely ill. A council meeting was held to discuss the possibility of Glisselda temporarily serving as queen. Ten Dragon generals request that the Comonot be handed over to them to be tried for his war crimes. Glisselda refuses to abide saying that they will go to war to keep the peace. Glisselda then tells Seraphina to locate the remainder of the half-dragons as she believes they will be useful in the future.
Chapter 36: After the meeting, the Comonot informed Seraphina that he had pardoned Orma but he was not sure what use that would do as he was now a banished leader. He also spoke with Seraphina's father about Linn and thanked him for his benevolence towards dragons. Seraphina then visited Orma for the last time and gave an emotional goodbye.
Chapter 37: Seraphina speaks with Earl Joseph one last time and he explains his confusion to her and how he believes that humans should rule over the dragons. He then returns to his homeland Samsam where he hopes his ideas will be valued. Seraphina then visited Kiggs once again to tell him that she loved him. He confessed that he too loved her but they would have to wait till after the inevitable war to pursue their relationship.
