Character Name: Jamie Gonzalez
Start:
Jamie’s alone in his room quietly curled up in his bed. He’s been like this, weeks after his sister’s death and refuses to talk to anyone.
Call to Adventure:
His mother suggested that he joins the boy-scouts where his sister used to work at to get some fresh air and do activities.
Refusal to Call:
He ignored his mother’s suggestion and stayed in bed all day. This continued for a few days.
Meeting a Mentor:
He had second thoughts about the boy-scout thing, so he joined anyway and that it might help him go back on his feet. His mother helped him with his struggles along the way.
Crossing the Threshold:
He was filled with anxiety during the registration. They managed to give him a chance to join in late and he was able to get along with everyone.
Test:
Jamie was still getting used to in doing the activities, but he managed to learn quickly even though he was too far behind from the other scouts. Months have passed, and everything was going smoothly. He made a lot of friends and is known for being the cheerful one in their batch.
During a conversation with his group, one of the scouts mentioned a previous scout master who used to be famous in the camp for their workmanship and integrity to the other scouts. Later on, he discovers that they were talking about his sister who was the only girl who joined the boy scouts. This made him break down in front of them and he was later sent home for the day. After that incident, nobody talked about his sister ever since. Well at least not in front of him.
A year has passed, and Jamie was making his rounds by selling cookies in town from local convenient stores, and houses. He wasn’t able to earn any badges from last year since he was slowly falling back from activities and club meetings. The whole batch didn’t want him to be left out so they made him sell their products, in hopes of earning his first badge for this year. While he was walking, he passed by a dark alley way and it seems like someone was there as well.
Out of curiosity, he went towards the stranger to try and sell him cookies. He was hesitant at first, but desperate times call for desperate measures. It appears the stranger was a teenage boy. Out of nowhere, the guy froze and was about to collapse after seeing Jamie. He immediately went after him as the guy blacks out. Not knowing what to do, Jamie dragged him on his pull wagon to cater him at home. He put him on his bed as he patiently waits for him to wake up.
The stranger was slowly gaining his consciousness after an hour. He seemed a bit confused at first and was starting to panic again. Jamie was able to calm him down and comforted him ‘till he was okay. He learns that the boy’s name is Kasai and he has nowhere to go because of unknown circumstances. Jamie had to make one of the toughest decisions he ever, but he let him hide out in his room without his mom knowing.
Return:
Jamie pays respects to his sister’s grave with Kasai as they leave together and start a new life. After meetings with the boy scouts he’s picked up by Kasai as they go home together side by side. Their friendship was stronger than ever until the very end.
Results:
He feels relieved after all of the things that have happened the past days. He now supports Kasai from going through therapy as well.
Ordeal:
Jamie was mixed with emotions as he froze on the spot. His mother was filled with rage and blames Kasai for his son’s grief. Kasai tries to explain to them that he never intended to leave his sister after hitting her. Before his mother could say anything, Jamie forgives him on the spot. Everyone was surprised that Jamie was willing to forgive the person who killed their loved one. It may be poor decision making, but Jamie stated that he would rather move on and would like to help Kasai out and support him at court.
Reward:
Kasai’s case won the at the court. After the case was closed Jamie had a serious conversation with him. Kasai told him everything that really happened during that time and it felt like a lot of weight was lifted after that. Jamie forgives him once more and their friendship was made even stronger.
Cave:
After a while, Jamie grew attached to Kasai. He was like an older brother he never had. Kasai told Jamie that he was going outside to get some fresh air. Jamie told him to come back as soon as possible. Sadly he didn’t return. In sheer panic, he went out to try and find him while calling out Kasai’s name.
Even though Kasai has only been here for a few days, he didn’t want to lose him. Not again. It’s been hours and he refuses to give up. It was already past six, and he was sitting on the side walk not knowing what to do anymore. Jamie’s mother went after him who was worried sick for being gone for hours. He broke into tears after seeing his mother’s concerned face as he went for a hug. After going home, Jamie told her everything about Kasai.
She was a bit upset at first for letting a stranger inside their house without her knowing, but after hearing her son’s statement she was uncertain on what to do. She decided to take his word for it as they try to find him together. They asked the local police officers if they saw Kasai by any chance and they were informed that he was brought to a highly secured jail, so they went there to find him. Jamie begged the officers to let Kasai out and that he’s a good person.
By chance, Kasai was able to hear what Jamie said in the nearby cell. This made Jamie’s face beam with joy as he ran towards him. After he saw the worried look on Kasai’s face which made him confused, Jamie’s mother asked the officer why he was in jail in the first place. He overheard their discussion and discovers that Kasai was the one who killed his sister.
Road Back:
Jamie was back at the boy scouts. He wasn’t able to get the badge he expected instead he was congratulated by overcoming his obstacles. Everyone there was supportive for him and they will try to help him in his difficult times.
