ponyboy is the youngest of the three greaser brothers and is the most old school, as in he likes to read and watch movies, ponyboy is also not like his brothers in the fact that he is a coward.

Darry is the unacknowledged loving brother of ponyboy since the parents of the three brothers have died he has taken the most responsibility over his brothers, which has lead them to think he doesn't love them because in his mind he cares for them but doesn't handle it the greatest when it comes to them doing bad things so he yells at them a little to much.

dally is the greaser from the north, dally used to be part of a gang in new York, where he would shoot people, kill people on the daily, dally isnt the brightest most handsome, or the most charismatic greaser, but he is a dang good fighter and if anything goes south he knows what to do (chapter 4/5)

johnny inst the oldest of the group but he has diffidently seen the most with his sister being abusive and his parents not caring about him, and then on top of all that the socs jumped him for no reason and beat the snot out of him
