ETIOLOGY
Excess fluid in the pleural space is called pleural effusion. When this happens, it's harder to breathe because the lungs can't inflate fully. This can cause shortness of breath and pain.

DIAGNOSTIC TEST
a chest x-ray will usually be ordered to confirm the presence of a pleural effusion and to establish the precise location.
MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
Provide symptomatic relief by removing fluid from the pleural space and to allow the treatment of the underlying disease.
NURSING DIAGNOSES
Ineffective airway clearance related to increase trachico bronchial secretion as manifested by persistent cough
NURSING INTERVENTIONS
Maintain chest drainage when needed . Institute Treatments. Administer Oxygen . Observe patients breathing pattern. Take vitals every 4 hours Monitor for excessive pain
