Cardiovascular system
The cardiac cycle
-
left ventricle has to move blood to the body and the right ventricle moves it only to the lungs, left ventricle has a thicker muscle.
-
-
steps:
- Isovolumetric Ventricular Contraction - Ventricles begin contracting, causing ventricular pressure to increase=Closes the AV valves and doesn't change volume.
-
-
- Ventricular Systole - Ventricle keep contracting and the high pressure causes the SL valves to open.
-
-
- Isovolumetric Ventricular Relaxation - Ventricles are relaxing and all the valves are closed.
-
-
5/ Ventricular Diastole - Blood flows into atria until the pressure increases above the ventricular pressure=the AV valves to open
-
-
- Atrial Contraction - Left and right atria contract simultaneously causing atrial pressure to increase.

Electrical conduction :
electrical signals of the heart can be recorded by applying surface electrodes on the body and running a tracing called an electrocardiogram
used to determine normal and abnormal heart function and is a great noninvasive clinical diagnostic tool.
