Ocean Termal
The heat of water surface is used to evaporate liquids such ammonia, the gas is then used to make a turbine spin, and the cold of the deep water is used to condence the gas so the process can be repeated again
Tidal Power
Tides are powered by the effect of the moon, Earth and sun (gravity). When the sea level rises turbines are moved and it generates electricity.
Marine turbines are an alternative, are like wind turbines under the sea. The angle of the blades can be changed in order to obtain energy as the tidal flow changes.
Wave power
As waves move up and down, the movement is captured in different devices and then it is turned into electricity. Some of them are:

Hydroelectric power is power that is generated with the use of water, it can be used in various ways such as its temperature, flow, etc. It is all about converting energy in water movement into electricity. Movement can be due to river flow, waves, ocean currents and tides.

Conts
It needs different constructions and teh space needs to be taken from somewher,so it usually is pollemic due to the distruction of ecosistems and societies. There is also lost of fertile land. Dispalce people
Hydrogen fuel cell
It generates electricity using chemical reactions. It is similar to a battery, it uses hydrogen and it reacts with oxygen. Hydrogen is separated into ions and electrons, the anode passes through an electrolyte to the catode, they flow through the circuit generating electricity. It ca be used as motor to spacecraft now are backup power supplies
Pros
As long as it is provided with fuel it will continue producing energy, they have high efficiency, they do not produce pollution
Conts
They require fuel, so they need enrgy and they are expensive.
Nuclear Energy
It comes from splitting atoms to release energy, this energy turns water into steam and these powers turbins
The elements that are used are the ones that are unestable or radioactive. The process of splitting neutrons from atoms is called fission and it releases energy after it neutrons are realised and go to separate other atoms causong a chain reaction, the enrgy released is much more powerful than the one in combustion
Pros
It generates large amounts of enrgy with small quantities of fuel
Does not produces CO2
Fuel can last thoursands of years
Conts
Produces radiocative waste, there are safty issues although is safer than gas or coal and nuclear power plants are very expensive to build but have low costs to mantain them
Solar energy
Electricity is generated through solar panels or photovoltaic cells, they are grouped in huge numbers called solar farms. It can also be used to heat fluids or gas to drive turbines
Solar panels are built up of layers of semiconductors, sunlight causes its electrons to move between the layers , when load is applied the movement causes elctric current, a lot of cells are together collecting lots of energy
The sun is used to heat water to steam and then with it make turbines turn, the turbine powers a generator, steam is coold and the process starts again
Mirrors are place to reflect sun into a certain point, this will heat the point and the temperature will easily generate steam to power the turbines
A reflective trough is used to focus solar energy to a focal point, a fluid is running through a pipe, heat in the fluid heats water causing steam to power turbines
A reflective dish focus´s the sun´s energys heating a certain point, a strigling is positioned at the focal point, it converts heat to motion, movement can be used by a generator to produce electricity
A canopy rise into a central tower, as the air under the canopy heats it rise, cooler air is pushed down, the air movement can be used to turn a turbine
Geothermal
It is a antural resource that can be extracted from the ground. It does not pollute. Thereare specifical requires. Earth contains huge amounts of energy , this heat comes from the core, from radioactive elements. A problem is that it is difficult to obtain because of its does, just when magma is near the surface we can see springs and volcanoes, Plates are over the magma bed and they can move
It is based on the extraction of heat, plants atre situated in geologically active areas where water is heated by hot rocks near the surface.
Hot water or steam is pumpedand used to generate electricity with a turbin and a generator, water is then returned to be heated again, this is called hydrothemal systems, rocks with the correct characteristics are rare
EGS use hot dry rocks. holes are drilled and then water is pumped into the rocks, stem returns to the surface and moves a turbin and generator
Conts
Drilling to the depths is very costly, fracturing rocks to create a path is still at an experimental stage
