 Underage Nicotine use is often facilitated by a lack of resources and public awareness towards this drug.

Conclusion

I have tried to exemplify the lack of resources for underage e cig and nicotine uses in general. I believe it is caused by an underwhelming amount of public education outside of the highly emotionally charged and guilting ads served by “the Real Cost”. Increasing efforts to educating the public, as well as providing resources accessible to underage users is essential to addressing this issue.

 Hopefully this has shed a new light on the lives of underage smokers, some struggle to quit, others not, in either case they do not have the resources that have been afforded to older users.

 The FDA reviewed an electronic cigarette cessation aid company named Juul, they found the company guilty of advertising to minors. Soon after in late 2018 the FDA announced they were taking action by sending multiple warnings, requests to stop production of fruit flavored pods, and that a deep review of the company internally be taken.

 There have been no signs this has happened yet or been strictly enforced.

  Their advancement of the “The Real Cost” campaign produces adverts aimed at scaring away the young populace from tobacco products. Their website only lists one program that is potentially helpful, offering advice, encouragement, and tips to quitting. This is not a full cessation program.

 Although not all resources are as difficult to approach as "the real cost:

 Although the majority of reasons that teens use these e cigarettes are because they were:
 * recommended by a friend of family member 
 the flavors
 * They believe it is less harmful than other forms of tobacco

 This can be harmful because it can lead to the use of nicotine as a calming agent incidentally without proper knowledge of the risks involved beforehand.

 Cessation programs and nicotine cessation aids are only available to users who are of age and are thus an unavailable resource to underage nicotine users with inadequate support systems
