Chapter 1
we get an intro to ponyboy in this chapter. We find out what he looks like and about his gang. We get to know a few details too such as he likes to watch movies.
we find out a bit about pony's family, he has two brothers who are named Soda and Darry and his mother and father are dead
we learn that the greasers and socs are defined by social class. The greasers don't have as much money as the socs. These names also have stereotypes that go with them.

One thing that I noted is that ponyboy says he is "young and innocent" and cherry says "no, you've seen too much to be innocent" this really struck me since one of the main themes is loss of innocence which is mentioned in this sentence
