Alien and Sedition Acts- Restricted freedom of press, speech, to assemble, etc. The U.S. could deport immigrants during times of war, and raised citizenship requirements to 14 years instead of 5
Quasi War with France
Tariff Program- taxes on importing goods
Farewell Address- Advised on not creating political parties, and said to stay neutral in foreign affairs
Hamilton's Financial act- Bank and taxes to repay state and national dept
Decreases National dept with tariffs and western land purchases
Barbary Wars- pirates robbing U.S. sailors, U.S. signs treaty to pay tributes, Jefferson sends USS Constitution to blockade them, pirate agree to stop tribute payments
James Monroe
Missouri Compromise- all territories south of the 36-30 line were admitted as a slave state, and all north were admitted as a free state.
Monroe Doctrine- the U.S. will not interfere with European matters, and warned Europe to not try and colonize any more of the Western Hemisphere
Era of Good Feelings- time after the war of 1812 where there were very few domestic issues and the country was very united

Treaty of Ghent- no land lost or won by either side as a result of The War of 1812
