Section1-Work and power
Work occurs when force is done on an object that makes it move in the same direction of the force done.
difference between force and work ? force is the push or pull done on an object, therefore its not necessary that force will result in work being done as work requires movement of the object in the direction of the force
work without force - if you try to push a huge truck using your hands, force will be exerted however the truck will not move because of how heavy it is and therefore no work will happen
same work different forces-
regardless of the energy exerted on the object, the work will not change however the force will depend on the energy needed.
ex. which will require more work done ? pushing a car a long the road to the top of the mountain or using a cable to raise a car up the side of the cliff?both will have the same work because both cars ends up in the same place however raising it will need more force
Work can be calculated by multiplying the force applied on an object by the distance through with the force is applied. W=F x D
as the distance or weight increases the force increase thus the work increases . the unit used to express work is joule; it is equivalent to the amount of work done by force of 1 newton through distance of 1 m.
work with force - moving a toy car along the carpet while holding it. the car here includes both work and force because the car is moving in the same direction of the push by using the force of your hands.
What is power? power is the rate at which work is done or energy is transmitted , in other words its how fast work is done
when work in a specific time increases, the work output also increase, power output is also greater when the time to do certain amount of work decreases.

if you brush your teeth using a typical tooth brush you may take an amount of time that is much longer than using an automatic tooth brush, no matter how fast you try.(although the amount of energy is the same) therefore the electric brush has more power.

when a machine is used on an object , both size and direction of the input force changes
