        How do you think the time jump affects the character's personality (DC)
        
        well, people can get more mature, they can die over time (like Jem), people's relationships can fall apart (like Scout's and Calpurnia's, there are many things that can happen in even 1 year, but it's been almost 30 years! (SJ)
        
        Calpurnia seems much less poised over time. Age has definitely affected her. (ES)
        
        "Alexandra showed little evidence of such activity as she stood waiting for her niece: her thick gray hair was neatly arranged, as usual; she had on no makeup and it made no difference. pg.144 (DC)
- - - - I think Atticus has gotten a lot older, making him physically challenging for him to do things. I think he has not changed dramatically as he continues in his career as a lawyer. (DC)
        
        Why do you think people who read GSWM do not like the way Atticus is portrayed? (DC)
        
        "I heard you weren't feeling good. I looked in on you when I got home and you were sound asleep. All right this morning?" (DC)

    - - Personally, I do not. For one, he is about eighty, and probably going to, um, cease to exist, leaving him no time for dramatic change, and second, he has always been the same. I do not think he has anything to gain from changing, and likes the way he is. (ES)
