Fairness
Fairness means having fair legal processes, including a fair case heard in an impartial manner, and an opportunity to present a legal case and/or defence.

Equality
Equality means all people should be viewed equally before the law and have the same opportunities, without bias or prejudice in relation to race, gender, religion, status etc.
Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic) states that all people should be equal before the law and free from discrimination
