The head librarian provides training for new staffs
The new staffs might not be able to attend the training
Lack of engagement from the new staffs
The new staffs can have different learning habits
Language barrier, the new staffs might not speak English fluently therefore they might not understand what they are being taught
They should provide translators of the language they speak for the new staffs so they receive a better understanding of the training
Use technology such as Google translate to help break the language barrier
Provide interactive sessions so that new staffs engage in the training
Provide online training for the new staffs so that in their own time they can do the training
Provide one to one training for the new staff so they understand and gain better knowledge of the job roles they are meant to do
The head librarian restocks resources for the library
Delivery resources such as books or journals arriving late to the library
Not enough staff in the library to put out the stock such as books or journals which has arrived
Too much stock such as books or journals has arrived
Keep a rota of staff who works in the library for each week, if short of staff call other staffs for shift cover
Provide overtime for staff
As the stock arrives such as books or journals, scan each item and tick them off from the library management system
The head librarian orders resources
Not enough funding for the library to buy resources such as books or journals
The wrong order of books or journal has arrived
Contact the book supplier and tell them the issue and ask them to resend the correct order of books or journal
Try to get electronic version of a printed book or journal which is known as E-book
The head librarian manages the IT issues and assisting with use of computer equipment's in the library
The head librarian faces security problems such as data loss and malicious attacks in the library IT systems
The IT facilities such as computers and laptops not working and broken
Contact the supplier of the IT manufacturer so they can fix the computers and laptops or replace it
Contact the University IT department
The library should restrict access to the network infrastructure to authorise students and staff only
The library should backup data and all files such as information and resources for all staffs and students
Have a Rules and Regulations page
Have a firewall in the library, the firewall tracks the incoming and outgoing network traffic and chooses to allow or block specific traffic based on security rules
Have a suitable bespoke antivirus software installed
