Applying the membership categorization rules of economy and consistency along with the concept of category boundedness (Psathas, 1999), a student who encounters a classmate regardless of setting will likely think of that person as a classmate (category bounds), will not further consider parts of that person's identity (economy), and will classify any of that classmate's associates through the initial category of the class (consistency). This means that when we see someone on an SNS like Facebook, we tend to ascribe the identity related to the context in which we met the person (e.g., in class) regardless of whether their words, actions and the identity they ultimately communicate in that setting are consistent with the student identity they perform during class interactions.
