Design
When designing our website we need to consider the following:
Navigation
Wire-framing
Legal implications
navigation: linier
In a linear structure, users move from one page of the site to another in sequence.
Navigation: Hierarchical
In a hierarchical structure, pages are accessed depending on their position in the hierarchy.
Wireframes are used to design the layout of a webpage. They should show:
Navigational links
Text areas
Media used (including file format)
Position and type of hyperlinks on a page
The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 was introduced to protect work produced by someone else.
When developing a web site we need to consider whether or not text, graphics, video and audio are copyrighted.
copyright
If the text, audio, images or video files do not belong to the web developer it is important to either:
Get permission from the owner to use the file
Give credit to the owner of the file
This may involve paying a fee to the file owner.
If a web developer fails to meet the regulations of the Act it can result in fines and prosecutions.
