The eyeball has three layers which include the fibrous, vascular, and inner layer. The fibrous layer is the outermost coat of the eyeball and has two different regions which are the sclera and cornea. The sclera protects and shapes the eyeball while the cornea forms a window that lets light enter the eye. The vascular layer is the middle coat and includes the choroid, ciliary body, and iris. The choroid functions to absorb light, preventing it from reflecting within the eye, The ciliary body is a thick ring of tissue that encircles the lens. The iris makes up the color of the eye and has a pupil which allows light to enter the eye. Lastly, the inner layer(retina) develops from an extension of the brain. Their is a neural and pigmented layer of the retina.
