Metropolitan Area: A major population center made up of a large city and the smaller suburbs and towns that surround it.

Rural Fringe: The small towns, farms, and open spaces that lie just beyond a city’s suburbs.
Urban Sprawl: The rapid, often poorly planned spread of development from an urban area outward into rural areas.

Allow growth to continue, but for each acre of land that was developed, they would preserve another as open space.

Having fun in the Cold
Atlantic Region:
Humid Continental Climate: A climate or climate zone with warm, rainy summers and cool, snowy winters.
Precipitation: Moisture that falls from the sky as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.

Prairie Region:
Semiarid: Dry, with little rainfall; also a climate or climate zone with hot, dry summers and cool, dry winters.
Subarctic: A climate or climate zone with cold, snowy winters and cool, rainy summers.
Pacific Region:
Marine West Coast: A climate or climate zone with warm summers, cool winters, and rainfall all year.
Northern Region:
Tundra: A climate zone with very cold winters, cold summers, and little rain or snow.
Canada's Five Regions
Atlantic Region: Located in Newfoundland, Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.

Prairie Region: Is located in the center of Canada. It includes Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

Northern Region: Part of the Arctic Ocean. Includes Canada's three territories; the Yukon Territory, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
How People Make a Living

Prairie Region: Farming, mining, and oil production.
Northern Region: Government, churches, and mining jobs. Others still practice herding and hunting.
Pacific Region: Hydroelectric power, mining, forestry, farming, and shipping.
