Cells
Eukaryotic - cells that contain a nucleus surrounded by a membrane. Found in plants, animals, fungi and protists .Typically 10-100 micrometres in size.Organisms made up of eukaryotic cells are called eukaryotes
Animal Cells
-
cell membrane
controls what materials enter and leave the cell, e.g oxygen, carbon dioxide and glucose
mitochondria
respiration takes place here, releasing energy for the cell.
-
Plant Cells
-
cell membrane
controls what materials enter and leave the cell, e.g oxygen, carbon dioxide and glucose
-
chloroplasts
organelles that contains green pigment called chlorophyll, which uses light energy for photosynthesis. also contains enzymes needed for photosynthesis
-
mitochondria
respiration takes place here, releasing energy for the cell.
-
Prokaryotic - cells that don't contain a nucleus. They are made up of organelles in a cell membrane surrounded by a cell wall. Bacteria are prokaryotes. Prokaryotes are typically 0.1-5 micrometres in size. Organisms made up of prokaryotic cells are called prokaryotes.
Bacteria
-
Plasmid DNA
some bacteria have these circles of DNA that contain additional genes that are not found in chromosomes
cell membrane
controls what materials enter and leave the cell, e.g oxygen, carbon dioxide and glucose
