Hume - We can always imagine a different effect following a cause, therefore, there is no self-contradiction in stating a causal proposition. Therefore, a causal proposition is not an analytic statement. We see that events (cause and effect) are not necessarily related but contingently related. However, we do not experience what actually links events. Therefore, as there is no empirical evidence to verify or falsify this necessary existential proposition, this statement is not a synthetic statement either. As a causal proposition is neither synthetic nor analytic, it is 'sophistry and illusion' and should be 'committed to the flames', it is not a reliable source of knowledge about the universe. Causation is a link we impose on the world. SAME LOGIC APPLIED TO THE UNIVERSE'S CREATION (LACK OF EVIDENCE)
