I find this poem, in terms of categorization, to be incredibly witty. Picasso asked for a portrait of himself, and he got one, but in Stein's convoluted language which possibly only she and her partner understood. In this way, Stein defies her own proclivity to categorize by refusing to do so for Picasso in normative terms. This is similar to Picasso's style of painting in Cubism, and that may have had a significant impact on her work, considering they were friends and his own portrait of her is done in a reminiscent/ formative style. Overall, from what I am able to gather, Stein saw Picasso as a figure like a leader, but she seems cautious of the category as a whole, as if the confidence of leadership will lead her friend to folly.
