Psalm 58 by David: God who judges the Earth
Challenge those gods
who have authority to define laws
Questioning
do you judge the children of man uprightly?
do you indeed decree what is right, you gods?
against gods
accusations
your hands deal out violence on earth
No, you devise wrongs in your hearts
their evil nature
the wicked are estranged from the womb and
they go astray from birth, speaking lies
they have venom like the venom of a serpent
Call upon God
O God, break the teeth in their mouths;
tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord
let them vanish like water that runs away
let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime
let them like the stillborn child who never sees the sun
let his arrows be blunted
(Future) outcomes
the righteous will rejoice because
(NOW) when he sees the vengeance
he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked
mankind will say,"..."
Surely, there is a reward for the righteousness
Surely, there is a God who judges on earth
