The Raven
The poem , "The Raven" shows a story of man's grief over his loss over his love and a raven who reminds his sorrow. The poem is dark and shows natural images common to many poems of the era.
Although the poem isn't directly related with the time period, it started a dark style of poetry for the time and many similar poems soon followed.

A man is resting when he hears some tapping on the door. at first he ignores it and starts to mourn Lenore, his deceased lover. the tapping gets louder and he finally answers. once he does all that shows is a Raven, who's only response is "Nevermore"
The Raven always responds to the widower with "Nevermore" repeatedly to echo his sorrow and sadness back to him and sets the mood for the majority of the poem.
