-
Germany must take full responsibility for the war- This was possibly the hardest term to deal with due to the war being seen as a defensive one by the Germans
Army can only be 100,000 men- pre-war the German army was nearly 900,000 in peacetime
The German revolution
This was a revolution due to it forcing a change from a total autocratic empire to a republic with an elected parliament
It wasn't a revolution due to the old aristocratic family's still holding power in influential positions in the government army and the courts
Due to the lack of victory as well as s massive shortage of food the public and several extreme groups like the socialists and right wings freicorpes would fight in the streets for political change
Kaiser to republic
Due to the failing economy and the near constant retreat on the front the military dictator of the nation decided to shift the blame from the old elite family's and the kaiser on to the socialists and liberals as well as to prevent any political revolution
the October reforms
The aim was to create a constitutional monarchy with the kaiser becoming a figure head and the Reichstag's would control the army and naive therefor blaming them for the failure in the field
