Hormones and pheromones
Hormones and behaviour
Hormones are a class of signaling molecules that exist in all multi-cell organisms. Examples include testosterone, cortisol. The same chemical may behave differently depending on the person.
Pheromones and behaviour
Pheromones are similar to hormones but work outside of the body, inducing activity like sexual arousal in other people.
Insects use pheromones to communicate.

Neuroplasticity
-
Axonal sprouting - undamaged axons grow new nerve endings to reconnect neurons with injured links. They therefore form new neural pathways to accomplish needed functions.
If one hemisphere is injured, the other is capable of taking over some of the injured one's functions.
Neurotransmitters
Neurotransmitters influence behaviour on a chemical level. Even the slightest changes in brain chemistry usually result in noticeable changes in behaviour.
Brain studies
Electroencephalography, a technique for recording electrical activity in the brain, is a useful diagnostic aid in brain injuries, tumors, epilepsy, sleep disorders and other diseases of the nervous system.
Magnetic resonance imaging is a test that uses powerful magnets, radio waves and a computer to make detailed pictures of the brain.
