As a citizen

As a physiotherapy assistant in a retirement home
Creating equal opportunities to be healthy
Not rushing the treatement to just say it was completed
Spending the time with each patient in order to get through the whole exercise program
Closely match services to the level of need
Involve everyone that wants to participate in the exercises
The home I work at, physio treatement is included in their package to make it more affordable for everyone
How does your role or organization influence the three dimensions of health equity?
Difference between equity and equality
As a physiotherapy assistant
I make sure to follow equity. It is not possible to have everyone have the same health outcomes
I work with many different individuals with different conditions and disabilities
Each patient has their own goals which we work to achieve
Some factors of health that are beyond our control and many of the patients understand that
We set SMART goals
Vicious nature of health inequities
Educate the employees

Open and honest communication
Awareness of health inequities
Offering to discuss any instances of perceived unfair treatment
Communication is key

Difference between equity in health and in healthcare
It is important as employers to understand the difference
