Domains and Kindoms
Intro
-
The three domains are Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
-
Organisms are placed into domains and kingdoms based on their cell type, their ability to make food, and the number of cells in their bodies.
Domain Bacteria
Bacteria are all around you. In the yogurt you eat, on every surface you touch, and inside your body.
Most bacteria can make you healthy, and some can make you sick such as the ones that cause strep throat.
Bacteria are Prokaryotes which are organisms whose cells lack a nucleus. nucleic acids are not contained within a nucleus.
Some bacteria are autotrophs, and others are heterotrophs.
Domain Archaea
-
Archaea can be found in the most extreme environments on earth such as, swamps, deep in the ocean where there are gases and molten rock, hot springs, and even cows' intestines.
-
Although bacteria and archaea are similar in some ways, there are important differences in the structure and chemical makeup of their cells.
Domain eukarya
Protists
A protist is any eukaryotic organism that can't be classified as an animal, plant, or fungus

Fungi
-
Fungi is found almost everywhere on land, but only a few live in fresh water.
-
Plants
-
-
Plants have great variety such as tall, short, flowers, no flowers, etc.
Animals
-
All are heterotrophs. They have different adaptions that allow them to locate food, capture it, eat it, and digest it.
