Protists

Animal like prostist

What is a protist

Plantlike protists

Funguslike protists

Protists are eukaryotes that cannot be classified as animals, plants, or fungi. Protists are very diverse. Some are unicellular, and others are multicellular. Because of the variety of protist. scientist have decided to group them as the following: Plantlike protists, animal-like protists, and fungus-like protists.

Pseudopods

They are in ameboes, and they direct amebeos away from light.

Cilia

Hairlike projectionst that move in one direction to protect the paramecium and enable it to move smoothly.

Parasites

Flagelle

They feed on the blood and cells of their holder.

Protist use more than one of these to move around. THese are used to digest the wood that the protist eat. (most likely a termite.)

Slime molds

euglenoids

Dinoflagellates

red algae

Diatoms

Brown algae

Green algae

Green algae can form in groups or by themselves. THey can live in fresh water or salt water.

Diatoms are unicellular protists with beautiful glass-like cell walls. Some float near the surface of the lake. Many Diatoms move by oozing chemicals out of their clits in their cell walls. They can glide in the slime.

UNcellular algae that is surrounded by stiff plates that lool like a suit of armor.

They are uncellular algea that are found in fresh water. They are autotroughs

They are red algae that grow 260 meters bellow sea level. They are seaweeds.

They flourish in cool rocky waters. They have many plant-like features.

Water molds and downy mildews.

They live in moist conditions. THey attack many food crops. A water mold impacted history when it called a food shortage in 1845 and 1846

They range in many different sizes. Some are as big as several meters. Some you need a microscope. They live on forest floors and other moist places.
