Gary Anderson won 3 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronze medals for New Zealand in cycling. Athlete Valerie Young has won the most gold medals (5) of any New Zealand competitor.
The New Zealand team collected 46 medals: 15 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze, (an increase of one medal from the previous games) in the Commonwealth 2018.
Art
The music of New Zealand has been influenced by blues, jazz, country, rock and roll and hip hop. These genres give New Zealand a unique interpretation.
Architecture, woodwork, textiles, and ceramics are the most frequently made New Zealand/Maori art
New Zealand comes from different traditions: indigenous Māori art, that of the early European (or Pākehā) settlers, and later immigrants from Pacific, Asian, and European countries.
Most pieces are about nature such as landscapes or famous New Zealand birds or animals. Other pieces are based off Maori traditions (this can be a portrait of a maori person or building or symbols such the Koru). Lots of New Zealand art includes Polynesian patterns.
