Results of the War
America's population continued to grow rapidly
Many Loyalist came back to claim back their land
America's Independence from Britain
Americans pushed further westward
They grew wealthier as the increased their trade and had more tie to work on their professions.

was a 24 year old French voluntter
He was sent by Washington to viringia
He was the only major threat to cornwallis

believed he could subdue some of Virginia , the source of patriots supplies
Cornwallis had a big struggle against marquis de Lafayette
he went to Yorktown where he prepared to build a well- fortified base
he was not ready for the attack from the patriots
him and his team got trapped in Yorktown without support from the british navy

Women gained more legal rights but still could not vote.
Had to teach the children how to become a good citizen
Older Americans that were respected were now often disrespected
After the war many women left their husbands
The percentage of children born to unmarried parents rose to a rate not seen again until the 1960s
Religion
Many younger Americans started to question state-supported religious authorities
Baptist and Methodist churches started to become more popular among the younger generation
These churches accomplished much for the cause of Christ
The hiring of non-paid lay leaders solved the problem of a shortage of ministers in the church
This though opened the door for false teachers

Ended the eight-year war with Britain
Washington returned home to Mount Vernon after the war.
Washington believed that the army had done its job in securing the nation's independence.
Washington led by example and did what was best for his country.
The U.S. and Britain stopped fighting in April 1783
The war ended November 25, 1783,when the last British troops left New York City
