Storm Hydrographs
Discharge
Cumecs, river flow, amount of water which reaches channel by run off, through flow and base flow
Bank full discharge
River water levels reach top of channel, any further increase will result in flooding, no more water can be held in the channel
Rising/ falling limb
R- increase in discharge, river filling up, steeper= reaches channel faster
F- discharge decreasing, river levels falling, water volume decreasing
Lag time
Time between peak rainfall and peak discharge, varies with drainage basin conditions, short= higher peak= flooding

Drainage Basin
Stores
Interception, Surface storage, Soil water storage, Vegetation storage, Channel storage, Groundwater storage
Transfers
through fall/ Stem flow, Surface run off, Infiltration, Through flow, Percolation, Channel flow, Groundwater flow
-
outputs
Evaporation, Transpiration, River run off
