Dance Instructor
Reflection
I chose this occupation because I am very passionate about dance. I know how much it has changed my life not only through how I can express myself but also through the teachers I have. I chose to apprenticeship in dance because I want to become that teacher that changes little kids, and older kids lives because of the good influence I have on them.
I didn't like the communication that occurred throughout my apprenticeship. Since my apprenticeship is also my job that I have, I am constantly trying to be in communication with my employer and coworkers. However, this communication is flawed because of the way that it's set up. It was stressful trying to find out when performances were and how to get people there on time.
I really liked the opportunity I have had to work with little kids. I teach a 4 year old tumbling class. The class is full of crazy little kid energy and really taught me patience on how sometimes it takes people a bit to learn fast. It really taught me different styles of learning different kids have and how to adapt to them.
After spending time at this apprenticeship I have decided that i want to pursue this job in the future because of how much joy it gives me. It takes a lot of work and preparation and patience, but I know that through practice and also learning more from my own dance teachers I'll be able to learn more about teaching dance and the best way to do it.

Standards
Standard #1: Understand that the changing workplace requires lifelong learning and acquiring new
skills
I didn't know anything about teaching tumbling going into this apprenticeship. I had to take time out of my day to learn about how to teach tumbling safely, especially to 4 year olds. I realized that sometimes it is required that you learn things on your own in order to become successful in the workplace.
Standard #2: Understand the importance of responsibility, dependability, punctuality, integrity and
effort in the workplace
At the dance studio that I work at, we have dance recitals for the students that are in class. In order to make sure that each student made it on time to recitals and had learned the choreography I had to pay attention to details of upcoming events and deliver that information to the parents of the kids.

Information
There were multiple tasks I had to complete through teaching a small child tumbling class. I warmed them up; stretched them so that they wouldn't get injured; teach them proper tumbling techniques; learn different(and smart) ways to teach younger children; use time efficiently to maximize learning time; adapt to new circumstances based on how the children feel or how they are acting that day.
