living conditions
The cities grew so fast that they were not ready for it. They did not have proper house planning, sanitary codes, education and security for all people.
cities were stacked with garbage and workers had to live in crowded, dark and dirty shelters.

Working conditions
workers often spent 14 hours a day 6 days a week working in factories in order to increase the production of the factory
Factories were often not clean or well lit. This posed many dangers such as a boiler may explode or a belt may catch someone's arm and many more. There was also no government providing protection for workers.
the most dangerous job was being a coal miner. Accidents often happened due to the damp conditions. They were always breathing in air from the coal and often times it was women and children working in the mines so that they could work for less pay.
