Psalm 51 by David:
Create a clean heart in me
theme: sin, iniquity, transgression
blocking to something important to him (joyfulness?)
"let me hear joy and gladness"
"let the bone YOU have broken rejoice"
restore to him the joy of salvation
consequence of reverence:
teach transgressor or sinner God's way so
they return to God
his tongue will sing aloud of His righteousness
mouth and lip will declare His praise
God's divinity - justified in His words & blameless in His judgment
delight the truth in one's inward being
teach him wisdom in the secret heart
call upon " God of my salvation"
not delight in or pleased with sacrifice or offering
God will not despise a broken spirit & a broken and contrite heart as the sacrifice
blot out his transgression
blot out my iniquity
have mercy on him according to His mercy & love
cleanse him from his sin
"purge me with the hyssop, i shall be clean"
"wash me, i shall be whiter than snow"
wash him thoroughly from his iniquity
deliver him from blood guiltiness
hide Your face from my sin
create a clean heart & renew a right spirit in him
uphold him a willing spirit (be submissive more than cognition?)
personal relationship with God: not cast him away God's presence & not take His Holy Spirit from him
do good to Zion & build up Jerusalem walls in God's good pleasure
delight in right sacrifice & burnt offering again
he knows his sin and sees his transgression
has sinned against God
has done the evil
He was born and grew in iniquity and sin
