Plant Reproduction
Asexual
Sexual
There are many different ways that plants reproduce asexually.
Plants can grow from roots, stems or leaves of an existing plant.
New plants are clones (genetically identical to their parent plant).
In Sexual reproduction the flower is the reproductive part of the plant. Both female and male gametes (pollen and ovules) are produced in the flower.
Advantages of Asexual reproduction consists of a rapidly increasing population, the ability to exploit suitable habitats quickly and it takes no energy to find a mate, unlike many other organisms.
Disadvantages of Asexual reproduction consists of no genetic variation which makes them vulnerable to climate changes and they all have the same predator as well as being vulnerable to all the same diseases.
Seed - An early embryonic pants covered in a seed coat.
Seeds are product of sexual reproduction.
Examples - Legumes, Quinoa, coffee and peanuts.
Germination - The process of the growth of a seed.
Conditions of growing a seed is moisture, warmth, nutrient rich soil, sunlight, and a good quality seed.
