EAF Feeding Operation caused Explosion
Analysis of Disaster
Engaged in iron feeding and steelmaking operations, the workers did not really check whether the iron contained trapped containers (such as gas tanks, oxygen bottles, fire extinguishers, etc.) or iron cans, which will cause explosions because of the high temperature molten iron.
Disaster Prevention
Check whether the electric arc furnace contains a well-closed container or a scrap iron can to prevent exploding and the water in the scrap iron should be drained to prevent the water from vaporizing in the high heat furnace and causing a water vapor explosion.

Due to the hole above the centrifugal filter, the toluene(甲苯) vapor escaped, and the fan did not turn on on the day of the disaster, which makes it impossible to blow off the flammable gas in the workplace and when worker was working with iron tools, he accidentally generated sparks and ignited toluene vapor, causing an explosion.
Disaster Prevention
The centrifugal filter should be completely sealed so the toluene vapor will not escape.
Exhaust equipment should be turned on to avoid accumulation of toluene vapor.
Avoid using iron tools to prevent sparks.
