Barcode Recorders

  • Barcodes has a unique identifiable barcode, which help retailers to identify products + use the information for stock control

Who + what uses this: Loyalty schemes - Products bought by the shopper are scanned + linked to the shopper's unique loyalty scheme number.

  • Supermarkets can identify which goods the shopper buy + use this information to target offers/discounts/money-off vouchers.

Scan + shop -members of loyalty scheme scan their own products .

  • Data about their shopping transferred to a checkout + linked to their loyalty scheme number.

Stock control - When a product is sold the the barcode is used to remove the quantity from stock database.

  • If a new are delivered, the barcode is used to add the quantity into the stock database.

What is its use:

  • Advertising - this code is found on magazines
  • the code can be read/scanned by the smart phone using an app.
  • Information such as URL/ a discount voucher or contact details of the business can be interpreted by the smart phone.
