Fit
It is important to ensure your pack fits well to your dimensions.
Liter quantity does not determine size and fit of pack. It simply tells how much the pack holds.
Make sure that straps conform fully to shoulders
Make sure that hip fins sit on iliac crest
Top of hip that sticks out
Backpack fit is determined on ones torso length , not height-SD
Sternum strap helps shoulder fit, lowers chances of bruises -TP
"break in" the pack before using it on a multi day trip to ensure comfort and durability (kd)
most of the weight should sit on the hips not the shoulders (kd)
Extra padding might be wanted under the hip straps to avoid discomfort with heavier packs (kd)

Research is required! I witnessed dozens of people on the AT who had their packs fitted for them by outfitters end up with packs to large for them JA
