Walls were used to keep people out. So nobody could invade Sumer.
ziggurats
priests went into ziggurats to talk to the gods.
canals
Canals were used to get water.
priests
Priests were very high in class for the city-states.
They would help people communicate with the gods.
They were treated with very high respect.
Also, sometimes they had the role of doctors too!
housing
Housing was also very important.
We use houses for shelter. Most houses were made out of mud-brick.
