Your religion is closely tied with your culture and language. Your religion greatly affects your cultural standpoint. And your language also greatly impacts your culture.
A universal religion is religions that attempt to be global by appealing to all, while Ethnic religions appeal just to one group. A Universal religion will reach more people because it can go globally so no physical barriers stop it allowed to reach more people. While ethnic religions will just stay to one group of people and try to appeal to them.
Most major religions are open to new followers, compassionate to religious prosecution. Open to people wanting to be accepted, or people that want something to believe in.
Territorial conflicts arise around religions because they want people to believe in there religion. The most popular of all is hated by all others because they are not the most widely practiced. They need the territory for there religion, so this causes problems.
