Identification system
Owner code:
- unique, International Container Bureau (BIC)
- first three capital letter
- Each owner code can have up to 1 million containers.
Product group code:
- U: for all freight containers
- J: for detachable freight container-related equipment
- Z: for trailers and chassis
Registration/ Serial no.:
- six numeric digits.
- If the container number consists of fewer than six digits, it is preceded by enough zeros to make a six- digit number sequence.
