Classroom Management
Literacy
Literacy Philosophy
Literacy instruction needs to be balanced and incorporate many aspects such as reading, writing, word work. These are all important because without them students will not be able to succeed in higher levels of learning.
-
-
Diversity
My future literacy classroom will include a library filled with diverse books so the students will have mirrors to see themselves and windows to see others. I will work hard to to meet the needs of my students. I will have visual representations of famous and community members that represent a diverse group of individuals.
Danger of a Single Story
This is an idea that a person can have a single image of what someone or thing can be, leads to stereotyping and demeaning people without meaning to.
-
Literacy Instruction
Reading, writing and the 6 modes of language arts will play a significant role in my future classroom. I will use these to influence my instruction.
I will use multiple modes and methods to teach students the elements of phonemic awareness, phonics, and comprehension.
Interactive Read Aloud
Using inference questions to deepen the understanding and comprehension of what we read with the class.
Writing Lesson
We worked on Slice of life concepts. The students got to work brain storming, drafting and revising their own stories.
-
Literacy Assessment
I will use literary assessments to see where my students are in a certain area as well as areas we can still work on.
I will use many different assessments to do this.

Discipline Philosophy
As an educator, I value honesty and mutual respect with my students. I believe that a teacher should be kind, flexible, and passionate about their job.
-
Classroom management should be a mutual job for students and the teacher, management is working together to make sure everyone is doing what they should.
Teaching Styles
Laissez Faire
Teacher is passive, students take charge, are friendly but indifferent.
Autocratic
Teacher makes all decisions.
Democratic
Students have choices, acts like team player, teacher has final say.
Big Five
Use as community rules, have students help create rules.
I want my students to be intrinsically motivated so that they can succeed in future endeavors, because there is not always going to be a reward
-
Classroom Environment
Classroom Rules will be create with the students. The students will hold themselves accountable as well as me for following the rules.
-
I will pointed out specifically the behaviors I am glad to see students do. To manage those who are acting negatively i will address them directly in a calm manner,
Field Experience
Fire safety day my teacher would point out behaviors she saw and this would cause other students to begin to show that behavior.
