- - - - Plants need sunlight for photosynthesis, where it converts carbon dioxide and water into foods. Because plants are able to produce it's own food, they are considered producers.
  - - - Produces offspring with the exact same genetic makeup. It's very similar to cloning.
        
        The pros of this are that it doesn't take energy to find a mate, and it's very quick in expanding the population.
        However, the same genetic makeup means lack of variety, which means that a single harmful source could easily wipeout the entire population.
      - Asexual reporduction does not produce seeds
    - - Produces offspring with traits from both parents.
        
        The pros of this is that it increases diversity, so higher chance of the species surviving an attack from bacteria, disease or environmental change.
        However, the cons of sexual reproduction are that it takes time and energy to find a mate, also if there is only 1 plant/animal remaining it will not be able to reproduce.
        
        Sexual reproduction for plants means that a seed/seeds is produced.
        
        Seeds contain an embryo and have a seed coat that protects the seed. When the plant starts to grow, the embryo will emerge from the seed. This phase is called "germination."
        
        As the plant grows, it's cells duplicate to increase the general size of the plant.
        
        The embryo is the baby plant that eventually grows into the full plant.
        
        The first sign of growth found in a seed is when a small root starts to surface from within the plant.
- - - - Plants get their nitrogen from the soil despite the fact that most(78%) of the atmosphere is nitrogen because that nitroge isn't in a useable form. This means that the nitrogen they take in must be converted to a useable form.
        
        Nitrogen fixing bacterias such as Rhizobia can be found in the roots of Legumes and covert the Nitrogen gas to the usable form
        of Ammonium(NH4+). Furthermore, Nitrifying Bacteria convert Ammonium(NH4+) to Nitrite(NO2-), and Nitrite(NO2-) to Nitrate(NO3-). Nitrite(NO2-) and Nitrate(NO3-) are also useable forms of nitrogen for plants.
      - How do salmon play such an important role in this?
        
        Salmon contain nitrogen. Their nitrogen gets fed on by predators such as eagles, bears and wolves. Dead salmon also help to feed scavengers.
        
        The carcass of these salmon gets brought into the forest where it decomposes and gives nitrogen to the forest. Salmon also contains other marine nutrients that help the forest thrive. Also after eating salmon, predators will then deposit their feces into the forest, also containing nitrogen.
