Nitrogen
Nitrogen is everywhere, in fact, it makes up 78% of the atmosphere. Nitrogen can also be found in living organisms, soil and the ocean.
Nitrogen Cycle
Plants get their nitrogen from the soil despite the fact that most(78%) of the atmosphere is nitrogen because that nitroge isn't in a useable form. This means that the nitrogen they take in must be converted to a useable form.
Nitrogen fixing bacterias such as Rhizobia can be found in the roots of Legumes and covert the Nitrogen gas to the usable form
of Ammonium(NH4+). Furthermore, Nitrifying Bacteria convert Ammonium(NH4+) to Nitrite(NO2-), and Nitrite(NO2-) to Nitrate(NO3-). Nitrite(NO2-) and Nitrate(NO3-) are also useable forms of nitrogen for plants.
