- Absorbs lipids from small intestine
- Works with immune system to combat foreign cells & cancer cells
-
Lymphatic Cells
- Found in lymphoid tissues and organs
- Attack antigens
T-Lymphocytes:
- Produced in Thymus
- bind w/ antigens on foreign cells
- secrete protein to lyse the cell (killing it)
B-Lymphocytes
- Produced in Bone marrow
- transform into plasma cells
- produce antibodies that bind to foreign cells
- macrophages kill targeted cells
Interstitial Fluid fluid b/w cells in extracellular matrix of areolar C.T. ground substance; Called lymph once inside lymphatic vessels
- H2O
- ions
- nutrient molecules
- respiratory gases
-
Lymphoid Organs
