Mature follicle
Consists of the oocyte surrounded by a protective layer of zona pellucida, surrounded by the corona radiata. Granulosa cells make up corona radiata and enclose the follicle. The space within the ovary is referred to as the antrum.

Mucosa
Simple columnar epithelium containing villi. Each villus is covered by hundreds of microvilli which form a brush border. The tissue also contains intestinal crypts, lamina propria, and muscularis mucosa.
-
Muscularis externa
Containing inner circular smooth muscle (longitudinal) and outer longitudinal smooth muscle (circular)
