Social Shaping of technology
The opposing idea is that the social shaping of technology has been influencing the actor-network theory (ANT) and the social construction of technology (SCOT). SCOT fails to consider consequences due to its technology, disregard to certain social groups, and neglect towards other underlying social groups who may have a secondary influence (Wei).
The first shaping is known as technological determinism. This theory explains the way that our minds adapt to change, but not how we shape it (Wei).
