Early Life
When Shaun was young he had always had a talent at drawing, he grew up wanting to be a genetics scientist instead of an artist but when he was in high school he was called the best drawer of the school which is why he then shifted to becoming an artist. When he was in high school he also started drawing for a lot of magazine companies but got rejected many times he got lucky and got his first published illustration called 'Aurealis'. He, later on, went to university and studies history, English literature and fine arts.
Shaun Tan was born in 1974, Western Australia
Shaun Tan's high school was the 'Balcatta Senior High School' and he went to the 'University of Western Australia'
What his works are like
Many of his works are written and drawn by him. His works consist of sophisticated picture books, which include dark topics like depression, bullying and discrimination.
It says 'Darkness overcomes you' this show how he writes things about depression.
