Different types of Vegetarians
Lacto-vegetarian diet
This diet excludes meat, fish, poultry, and eggs, but allows dairy products such as cheese, yoghurt, milk, and butter.
Ovo-vegetarian diet
This diet excludes meat, seafood, poultry and dairy products, but allows eggs.
Lacto-ovo vegetarian diet
This diet excludes meat, seafood and poultry, but allows dairy prodcuts and eggs.
Pescatarian diet.
This diet excludes meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products but allows fish.
Vegan diet
This diet excludes meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, and dairy products as well as products that include them.
Dietary requirements
Omega 3 fatty acids
Vegetarians can get this from flaxseeds or canola oil
Calcium
Some vegetarians can not eat dairy products, and some can not eat fish, so some alternatives to these that provide calcium are dark green, leafy vegetables (such as broccoli and spinach) and nuts such as almonds and brazil nuts.
Protein
Protein can be acquired from tofu, beans and lentils.
Iron
Legumes, nuts, some seeds (such as sunflower seeds) and green vegetables all provide Iron.
