Differentiation Strategies
Use graphic organizer provided in MYON to complete a knowledge map about legends. One other option for the ELL and special needs students will be drawing the features they know.
Fill out an exit ticket to show me what they already knew, learned and still would like to learn more about.
Student who still need more individual help will be invited to my Friday office hour for a mini lesson with a little homework if necessary.
Use graphic organizer provided in MYON to complete a knowledge map about myths. Lower lexile books will be provided for those who need it such as ELL and special needs students.

Final writing task lower word count or alternatively a myth or legend cartoon strip. The cartoon strip option will be beneficial to both my ELL and special needs students as they better express themselves visually.

Differentiation Strategies
Use graphic organizer in MYON to fill out a KWLS chart. Students will use book that they have already read to help guide them in this activity.
Fill out an exit ticket to show me what they already knew, learned and still would like to learn more about. *Can use some data from KWLS chart but there will be other questions on the exit ticket.
Additional homework tasks will be used to bridge knowledge gaps that aren't filled through lesson instruction,.
Final writing task will be writing their choice of a myth or a legend from beginning to end (5 paragraphs not including dialogue).

Differentiation Strategies
Use graphic organizer to make venn diagram of myths/legends. After teacher check, diagram will be drawn onto whiteboard or projected to Apple TV for all students to add into their notebooks.
Fill out an exit ticket to show me what they already knew, learned and still would like to learn more about.
This group will work on developing a short screenplay to present at the end of the unit. They will work on the initial plot and character development together, then be assigned to a mixed group which will create props and the dialogue between the characters.
Final writing task will be writing their choice of a myth or a legend from beginning to end (5 paragraphs not including dialogue).
MYON will be used to link these first differentiation strategies. All students were assigned a myths/legends reading project over the 3-week Christmas holiday.
Thumbs up, thumbs sideways or thumbs down will used throughout lessons and unit to assess class.
Classwide Assessments
All students will initial or put a star on the benchmark timeline when they can demonstrate (verbally, visually or written expression) required outcomes for this unit.
All students will take part in more Kahoot quizzes to monitor class' progress throughout the unit. I will build off of the pre-assessment Kahoot adding more in-depth questions.
