Sahara Desert
Geography
Around 25% of the desert is sand dunes, some of the sand dunes reach over 500 ft in height. There are a lot of mountain ranges and some of are volcano's. The highest peak found is Emi Koussi, a shield volcano that rises to 11,204 ft. "The lowest point in the Sahara Desert is in Egypt's Qattara Depression at -436 ft (-133 m) below sea level."
Natural Resources
One natural recourse they had in the Sahara was salt.There were a lot of salt mines all around. There is also a lot of oil, natural gas, and other minerals.
Animals
There are about 70 different species of animals in the Sahara. 20 of those species are large animals like a spotted hyena.There are a few reptiles too.
Climate
Although the Sahara is really hot and dry today it is believed that it has gone through various climate changes in the past few hundred thousand years. "Around 3400 BCE, the monsoon moved south to where it is today and the desert again dried out to the state it is in today." There is about 2.5cm of rain every year.

There are huge oceans surrounding the Mediterranean Coast.
