Parathyroid Glands
Parathyroid Hormone
Increase blood calcium level, when it detects that it is low. Has three targets: bone, gastrointestinal tract, and kidneys.
Adrenal Cortex
Zona Fasciculata
Secretes glucocorticoids, maintains blood glucose levels. Our "stress" hormone.
Zona Reticularis
Secretes glucocorticoids and androgen. Androgen is converted in other tissues to testosterone and estrogen.
Zona Glomerulosa
Secrete mineralocorticoids, makes kidneys retain sodium and water.
-
Pancreas
Has islet cells that contain alpha and beta cells. Alpha cells secrete glucagon, that increase blood glucose level. Beta cells secrete insulin, that decrease blood glucose level.

General Functions
An internal regulatory system. It coordinates, controls, and regulates body functions.
